Support Our School

We appreciate your support! Our dedicated volunteers contribute to our strong family culture and great achievements. Your donations help us to continue to take our students on field trips, provide teacher professional development, purchase special classroom supplies and technology, and bring our community special events such as Parent Workshops, Movie Night, and guest speakers. Our school is better because of you. Thank you!

Volunteer Opportunities

Our school volunteers help to keep Park Western Place a wonderful place to be for our students, teachers, and families. We always need volunteers to help with programs, to serve on councils and committees, to assist with the Safety Valet, in addition to preparing materials for students and teachers, fundraising, and special events. There are also ongoing and one time events including the Art to Grow On, Festivals, Math Science Fun Day, Literacy nights, and Campus Beautification. There are many ways in which you can help us grow.

PTA-Parent Teacher Association
The PTA offers multiple opportunities for volunteer work at Park Western Place. We have a vibrant PTA group that supports every student in many ways throughout the year. Our PTA organizes fundraisers to provide direct support to classrooms materials and programs for students and professional development for our teachers. The PTA has also supported special events and experiences for our students such as Art to Grow On, CIMI, San Juan Capistrano, Book Fair, Math/Science Fun Day, Colonial Faire, and Campus Beautification Days.

Our PTA president enthusiastically invites everyone to join the Park Western Place School PTA. Members who pay their dues are welcome to attend the general meetings held monthly throughout the year. If you would like to be more involved you can volunteer for a position on the PTA board, or join the Special Committee group just to help with planned events. Contact the PTA.

Governing Committees and Councils
The English Language Learner Committee and School Site Council assist in making important decisions about our school. The members are elected annually from all stakeholder groups and include parents, teachers, staff, and an administrator. The committees and councils meet monthly to review the Single Plan for Student Achievement and student performance data, and make decisions to align the school's categorical funds and programs.

Morning Traffic Safety Valet
This program is staffed by trained volunteers and has been created to assist student's at drop-off time and improve safety every morning. Duties include helping students out of their cars  from 7:30 until the bell rings at 8:10 a.m. and then putting away any safety equipment. The school needs at least 2-3 volunteers/day for the school year. Even if you can only help for a day a week or a couple of days a month please sign up.

Art to Grow On
The Art to Grow On program consists of three to five projects per year designed by professional artists. For each project, volunteer docents attend workshops where they receive instruction from the artist in how to present and teach the project to the children. Those docents then take the projects into their schools so that every child can find joy and success with visual arts. This amazing program is made possible by volunteer support and our PTA.  Contact the PTA.

Classroom Support
If you would like to offer help a teacher in the classroom contact the PTA. Volunteer Liaison and your child's teacher for a list of needs and available times. All on-campus volunteers must first complete the District volunteer application process.

Campus Beautification
Our beautiful campus is enhanced by several gardens that need maintenance and TLC. Our Reading Garden and planters between the bungalows were recently replanted with beautiful aromatic plants and flowers that need occasional watering and weeding. We also host campus wide clean up days to spruce up our school with light painting, sweeping, and cleaning.

Annual Events
We always need additional volunteers for special events on our campus including: Book Fair, Fun Run, Spell-A-Thon, Math-Science Fun Day, Heritage Pageant, and Colonial Faire. Contact the PTA.
